Note From Gala
While the media created quite a stir about the new millennium last year, the reality is that the second millennium ends on December 31, 2000. Our current method of dating years began on January 1 of the year 1 A.D., not 0 A.D., which means the first century ended on December 31, 100 A.D., the first millennium ended on December 31, 1000 A.D., and the current millennium will end on December 31, 2000 A.D.
Because we are not only beginning a new year but also a new millennium, it is an important time to reflect on our lives and plan for our metaphysical pursuits and personal growth. We are at a point where we need to set our focus and intent for the new millennium and thereby the rest of our current lifetimes on this planet.
This may sound a bit overwhelming on the surface, but it is certainly attainable with proper planning. Many of us are already accustomed to making New Year's resolutions of a physical nature - losing weight, exercising, getting a better job, and so forth. However, metaphysical resolutions that help us align body, mind, and spirit are necessary for true success.
Florence Scovel Shinn suggests that the key is to go beyond visualizing what we want to visioning. In this process, you first create a vision of where you want to be. You then break the process down into the steps it will take to get there. Many times, when we try to make a major change, we fight it subconsciously because it is too much to process and accept. By creating an action plan with milestones along the path, you help manifest your vision by biting off pieces of a size that your subconscious can accept that will gradually lead you to your goal.
